Alcoa Fjarðaál Recognized for Excellence in Sustainability

Alcoa Fjarðaál was recognized with the 2024 Sustainability Axis at a ceremony held recently at the University of Reykjavik. This award honors exceptional performance in sustainability across various sectors in Iceland. Alcoa Fjarðaál earned the highest score among aluminum producers.

The Sustainability Axis Award is the outcome of a pioneering survey that gauges public perception of Icelandic companies’ sustainability efforts. It consists of six questions based on the World Economic Forum’s ESG pillars, evaluating companies’ contributions to society, customer well-being and waste minimization. The survey aims to motivate Icelandic companies to prioritize sustainability and enhance consumer awareness, with 16 companies, including Alcoa Fjarðaál, recognized for their efforts this year.
