Alcoa Foundation contributes $60,000 to local Pittsburgh organizations
Alcoa Foundation continues to invest in areas that many of our employees call home, including communities near our Pittsburgh headquarters. This year, Alcoa Foundation awarded $60,000 in donations to two organizations, Presbyterian SeniorCare Network and Trade Institute of Pittsburgh (TIP), which will each receive $30,000. These funds align with a key Alcoa Foundation focus area, education and workforce development, and will serve to develop and grow the area’s talent pipeline.
“Alcoa Foundation is a longtime supporter of education and skill building opportunities, especially in Alcoa’s hometown of Pittsburgh,” explained Robyn Gross, Director of Transformation at Alcoa. “We are proud to work with partners like Presbyterian SeniorCare Network and Trade Institute of Pittsburgh to help individuals unlock their full potential and contribute to a more vibrant community.”
Presbyterian SeniorCare Network
A provider of senior living and care options, Presbyterian SeniorCare offers high school students opportunities to develop soft skills, receive paid training and utilize continued employment resources after graduation via its Career Pathways Program. The grant will fund the program across two of the Network’s campuses for one year.
Trade Institute of Pittsburgh (TIP)
TIP provides vocational training opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment and serves many jobseekers in need of additional support following incarceration. The grant will fund seven cohorts of six students during the first year of TIP’s new carpentry program, which offers a seven-week building and power tools training course.
Over the past five years, Alcoa Foundation has made a total investment of $405,000 in Pittsburgh-based initiatives. These have primarily centered on educational programs due to their potential for long-term impact. The Foundation looks forward to expanding its impact in the coming years.
