Alcoa’s EZCast™ Alloy Wins Fourth Consecutive NADCA Award for Megacasting Innovation

Alcoa has once again been honored at the North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) annual meeting, marking its fourth consecutive win for innovation in megacasting applications. This year’s award recognizes the C891F EZCastPlus™ alloy for its role in a groundbreaking front cabin triangular beam integrated casting for the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV.

This achievement underscores Alcoa’s continued leadership in alloy development and its commitment to advancing lightweight, high-performance applications for the automotive industry.

The award-winning casting integrates more than 20 high-strength steel stamping components into a single aluminum structure. Notably, the design incorporates the compressor mount directly into the casting for the first time, resulting in a cleaner, more compact front cabin layout.

This innovation not only simplifies manufacturing and improves structural integrity but also emphasizes the versatility and strength of Alcoa’s EZCast™ alloy family in demanding automotive applications.

About the NADCA Award
The NADCA Award celebrates excellence in die casting, with winners selected based on ingenuity in casting and product design, overall quality, cost savings compared to other manufacturing processes, and the part’s contribution to expanding the market for die castings. An independent panel of industry experts evaluates submissions to ensure impartiality and rigor.
