Alcoa Foundation Supports Communities Amid Extreme Weather events
The Alcoa Foundation is working to provide disaster relief funding to those affected by extreme weather events in the United States and Spain. The contributions underscore the Foundation’s commitment to supporting community resiliency and disaster recovery in regions where Alcoa operates.
Alcoa Foundation contributed $150,000 in disaster relief funds to World Central Kitchen in response to hurricanes Helene and Milton in the southeast United States. World Central Kitchen has been on the frontlines of these hurricanes providing nourishing meals and fresh water. They also work hand-in-hand with crisis-affected communities, buying ingredients from local farmers and vendors and working with community chefs, restaurants and volunteers to help drive recovery. World Central Kitchen has provided more than 1.9 million gallons of water to support families and restaurants in western North Carolina and served more than 1.7 million fresh meals to those affected by the two disasters.
In Spain, Alcoa Foundation is working to support those affected by recent flooding in the Valencia region by contributing $100,000 to relief organizations Spanish Red Cross and Banco de Alimentos (The Foodbank of Valencia). The organizations are providing food, milk, and necessities for those impacted by the flooding as long-term recovery continues.
“On behalf of our Alcoa colleagues, we are grateful to first responders, World Central Kitchen, the Spanish Red Cross, and Banco de Alimentos Valencia for their commitment to supporting those impacted by these extreme weather events,” said Caroline Rossignol, President of Alcoa Foundation.
