Alcoa Continues to Earn Praise for its Sustainability Performance
Alcoa has once again been recognized as one of the world's most sustainable companies with its inclusion in the 2023 edition of S&P’s Sustainability Yearbook. This is the third time our company has been named to the prestigious list.
The Yearbook is based on the 2022 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which was completed by more than 7,800 of the largest global companies spanning 61 different industries. To be listed in the Yearbook, companies must score within the top 15 percent of their industry and must achieve an S&P Global Sustainability Score within 30 percent of their industry’s top-performing company. This year, Alcoa’s Global ESG Score is in the top 10 percent.
In addition to S&P’s recognition, Alcoa was recognized by Morningstar Sustainalytics as a 2023 ESG Industry Top Rated company. This is based on an analysis of the company's exposure to material ESG risks and how it handles those risks. Thanks to its strong management of material ESG risks, Alcoa ranked 12 out of 202 in the Diversified Metals group. It is one of two North American companies in the group’s top tier.
In another recent recognition, Bloomberg named Alcoa to its 2023 Gender Equality Index (GEI), which features public companies that demonstrate a commitment to gender equality, as well as transparency in related disclosures. Only companies that score above a global threshold established by Bloomberg are included in the GEI. Alcoa was one of 484 companies to make the list.
These continuous achievements demonstrate Alcoa’s commitment to its purpose to turn raw potential into real progress and our vision to reinvent the aluminum industry for a sustainable future. It is also a testament to the dedication and hard work of Alcoans around the world.
