Alcoa statement on Russia-Ukraine Crisis

Alcoa CEO to employees: We will cease buying raw materials from, or selling our products to, Russian businesses.

Colleagues,

We are deeply troubled by the invasion of Ukraine, which has caused devastating loss of life. Our hearts break for all Ukrainians who are suffering from this unprovoked conflict. We hope for a diplomatic solution and a quick end to the hostilities.

While Alcoa does not have operations in the Ukraine or Russia, we have a multi-disciplined team that has been carefully monitoring developments. After close consideration, we’ve decided now is the time to act. In response to the current aggression, Alcoa will cease buying raw materials from, or selling our products to, Russian businesses.

Today’s decision is not based simply on business. With more than 12,000 employees on six continents, many of us have connections to those who are suffering from this conflict. As a values-based company, we know humanitarian support is needed.

The Alcoa Foundation is working to support relief efforts in Europe. Many of our employees have also reached out to ask how you can make a difference. That’s our Care for People value in action. To make a voluntary humanitarian gift to the International Committee of the Red Cross, please visit this link: International Committee of the Red Cross (icrc.org)

We know that this moment in history adds to the weight that we all have already been feeling with the uncertainty of global events. During these times, I urge you to continue to support one another. If you need direct and confidential support, you can always access professional resources through our Employee Assistance Program.

As always, please stay safe and thank you for your continued commitment to one another.

Sincerely,

Roy Harvey

Alcoa President and CEO
