Alcoa announces restart of aluminum smelting capacity at Alumar in Brazil

Alcoa announced that it will restart aluminum production at the Alumar #smelter in São Luís, Brazil, with the goal of making the first molten metal in the second quarter of 2022.

Our restart decision is based on a comprehensive analysis that shows the smelter can compete throughout all cycles, leveraging the co-located refinery and competitive power arrangements.
