Australian jobs
Australian employment opportunities are promoted online. Applicants should note:

  • Current permanent and fixed-term Alcoa employees: please access the HR Self Service page via My Alcoa to view vacancies only open to internal applicants.
  • External applicants: Apply through ‘Current Employment Opportunities’ (tab on the toolbar above). Positions are only available to permanent Australian residents or applicants who hold the relevant visa with authority to work in Australia. Please ensure this information is clearly stated on your application.
  • Talent entry programs: As apprenticeship, traineeship, graduate or vacation student opportunities become available they will be advertised on the Alcoa website.

Diversity and work-life balance
We believe part of the reason we have low employee turnover in Australia is because of our successful initiatives which assist employees to achieve a positive and healthy balance between work and personal life. We also have an inclusive culture which provides employees with the opportunity to succeed professionally and empowers them to be proud of who they are and where they come from.

No matter what a person's gender, marital status, age, background, ethnicity, beliefs, impairments, sexual preference or religion, all employees are valued members of the Alcoa team. Through our inclusion strategy we have several company-wide employee resource groups including the Alcoa Women’s Network and EAGLE (Employees at Alcoa for Gay, Lesbian [Bisexual and Transgender] Equality). Each group provides information and resources, a support network and organises group activities.

By taking inclusion, diversity and work-life balance seriously, we know we stand a far greater chance of attracting the right people who will be the best fit for our business.

Employer of Choice for Gender Equality
Each year we actively pursue Employer of Choice for Gender Equality status through the Australian Federal Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency. Alcoa received its 16th consecutive Employer of Choice citation in 2018. As part of the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, we have provided our annual submission for 2017-2018. Read our 2017-2018 submission to find out more.

Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) for Gender Equity
Our Managing Director is a passionate catalyst for change when it comes to gender equity. Through his membership of CEOs for Gender Equity we are committed to pay and job equity and gender equity advocacy and education.

It is proven and compelling – companies with gender equity outperform. At Alcoa, we are committed to making gender invisible for pay, performance and career advancement. Gender inequality should be a relic of the past.
