Project Highlights

Alcoa Warming-Waste-Water-Watts-Wildlife (W5) Project – National Wildlife Federation
With support from Alcoa Foundation, the National Wildlife Federation launched a global K-12 literacy initiative focused on Green STEM and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that is educating children about environmental issues. In collaboration with international partner and Eco-Schools creator, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the project is enabling thousands of students across four countries—Australia, Canada, Norway and the USA—to assess, design, and build innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Revitalizing the Peel-Harvey Estuary – Nature Conservancy
Together with Alcoa Foundation partners Peel-Harvey Catchment Council and Greening Australia, Nature Conservancy is working to improve the health of the Peel-Harvey Estuary in Australia, which is recognized as a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention. Nature Conservancy’s part in the project is focused on marine habitat restoration for improving fisheries, biodiversity and natural solutions to coastal defense in the Estuary.
