Putting first things first for Massena Operations means that our most important priority is to operate in a safe and responsible manner. We believe that our people are valuable assets. Our standard practices, industrial hygiene and environmental monitoring programs, and training initiatives are intended to ensure that no one is injured.
We are actively involved with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to ensure long term preservation of the environment. Best Available Control Technology dry scrubs emissions from our smelting process to protect the air. Carbon filtration units and on-site water treatment facilities along with water reduction and reuse engineering initiatives limit the effect of our processes on rivers and ground water supplies.
Massena Operations is also home to the Remediation Projects Organization, a partnering arrangement with engineering and field construction corporations that is charged with the responsibility for developing and implementing innovative environmental technologies for remediation.
