Warrick Operations Named Business of the Year by Metro EVV Chamber of Commerce

CONGRATULATIONS! The hard work of everyone at Alcoa Warrick Operations was recognized by the community last night when the Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce named Alcoa as a co-recipient of their Business of the Year Award. If Alcoa is to achieve it's vision to be the best company in the world, we know we have to be the best in our community.

In his presentation of the award, Chamber President Matt Meadors said, "This year, Alcoa Warrick Operations is celebrating 45 years of operation, and our community is celebrating the news that the company is investing more than $375 Million in the tri-state.

Warrick Operations is home to the largest aluminum smelter in the United States and significant ingot, rolling and finishing facilities that produce aluminum sheet for beverage and food can ends, tabs, and other flat-rolled aluminum products. The location is fueled by a 750 megawatt power plant slated for new environmental controls that will reduce the emissions from the plant well below anything required by law.

By investing in pollution controls for the Warrick Power Plant, Alcoa’s leaders acknowledged that 'this capital is not only good news for Alcoa, but for the community. This secures jobs at the plant, provides tremendous work for the area’s construction industry, and significantly contributes to a cleaner local environment. It’s impossible to quantify the benefits of the project.' I couldn’t agree more.

Alcoa Warrick Operations has been an active part of this community and of this Chamber. The leaders of the plant have led and made positive contributions to many nonprofit organizations, including our Board of Directors and our Government Relations department.

After 45 years of contributing to the community and the new investment that will be a tremendous positive impact on our economy, it is only fitting that we honor Alcoa Warrick Operations as a Business of the Year.

Accepting the award on behalf of all Warrick Alcoans, Ann Whitty acknowledged "the hard work and leadership efforts of the more than 2000 employees. Our business depends on people who work hard inside the plant and around the community. We have been a proud part of this community for 45 years, and we truly appreciate this recognition by the Chamber. We look forward to another 45 years of being a strong contributor to improving the region."
