Alcoa Worldwide Month of Service

On Saturday, October 21st, 33 employees and family members of Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS)-Simi Valley volunteered to clean up the sports fields, plant new trees and landscape the grounds at the Good Shepherd Lutheran School located in Simi Valley.

AFS Simi Valley worked together with Nancy Hawthorne the Principal of the Good Shepherd Lutheran School, to develop a project to improve the conditions of the school’s athletic field which is also used by the local community. AFS worked with Mayor Pro Tem Glen Becerra to secure the trees that were donated by a local nursery and transported to the school by Atlant Trucking for planting.

Principal Hawthorne said, “Good Shepherd Lutheran School is so grateful for the attention to an important need here at our school. We want to thank Alcoa Fastening Systems for the hard work that they did on our athletic field on Saturday, October 21. For education to prepare students for the future, schools and businesses need to become partners in educating our children. The fact that Alcoa recognizes this speaks volumes about this company’s commitment to education and this country’s future. Thank you, thank you, thank you Alcoa Fastening Systems.”
