AFS Presents Local Boys/Girls Club With $7500

SIMI VALLEY, CA – Jim Vigdor and Kevin Casey of Alcoa Fastening Systems in Simi Valley generously presented the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley with a $7,500 check in support of the Club’s “Power Hour Homework Assistance Program” which focuses on developing good homework habits by allocating a time and place for daily homework assistance, tutoring, and educational enhancement activities to raise academic proficiency among students. Our objective is to encourage young people to complete homework, become independent learners and assume responsibility for their own educational success or failure, leading to improved attitudes, improved self-esteem and better grades.

Alcoa is a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance fastening systems, specialty fasteners, components, and installation systems for aerospace and commercial applications. In 2004, Alcoa was named one of Fortune Magazine's "Most Admired Companies" in the leading business publication's annual report on reputation, which certainly is proven by their support and involvement in the community of Simi Valley. Alcoa’s generous support helps the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley actively pursue our mission to enrich the lives of girls and boys through access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.

The Club offers young people what they need and want most: adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits.
