High Performance Partnerships

Alcoa-owned businesses located in South Carolina, USA have teamed up with local schools through a program sponsored by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce that offers learning opportunities to students in underprivileged areas.

Southern Graphic Systems (SGS) in McBee, Alcoa Home Exteriors in Gaffney, AFL Telecommunications in Spartanburg, and Alcoa – Mt. Holly in Goose Creek, have each partnered with a school in its area through the program. The chamber’s High Performance Partnerships Program matches businesses from across the state with underachieving schools, many of which are located in rural communities. Businesses that join the program offer job shadowing opportunities and other educational programs to the students. The program’s goal is to produce students with the academic and life skills necessary to become productive members of society. It is funded through the state’s Commission on Higher Education using federal money administered by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.
