Alcoa Mill Products Volunteers Help Clare House
LANCASTER - September 2003
On a recent rainy Saturday morning, several volunteers from Alcoa Mill Products went to work to build a “Garden of Smiles” at Clare House, United Way member agency. The volunteers spent their Saturday installing new playground equipment for the children that stay at Clare House with their mothers. Women stay at Clare House in order to get back on their feet after various debilitating circumstances.
The project was backed by a national Alcoa ACTION grant of $3,000 from the Alcoa Foundation. ACTION means “Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods.” The Foundation supports opportunities for Alcoa and its employees to extend their commitment to the community through sweat equity and financial contributions.
