Alcoa Forged and Cast Products, Cleveland, Ohio, was named as a 2008 Pillar Award winner for Community Service. The Pillar Award is presented to companies that have distinguished themselves through leading by example, volunteerism and improving the quality of life of others. It recognizes companies, rather than individuals, in the nine-county region of Northeast Ohio. The Pillar Award was developed by Smart Business magazine and Medical Mutual to honor responsible corporate citizens.
“I am incredibly proud of our Cleveland Works people—Plant Manager Gena Lovett and her entire team—who understand the importance of giving back to their community,” said Ray Mitchell, president, APP. “We are fortunate to be part of a company whose corporate culture encourages giving back to those in need.”
“It’s such an honor for Cleveland Works to be recognized as a 2008 Pillar Award recipient,” said Gena Lovett. “I believe it is very critical to include community service into our company’s key priorities, and I’m very proud to say we had raised the bar and our employees enthusiastically responded. I’m proud to be part of a workforce that ‘made it happen’ and continue to ‘make it happen’ every day.”
