Directions from Pittsburgh International Airport to Monroeville
-
Take Route 60 South from the airport and follow the signs to Pittsburgh. Note that the road to Pittsburgh changes its route designations and becomes Route 279 as you approach Pittsburgh.
- You'll go down a hill as you approach the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Get in the Monroeville lane as you approach the tunnel. When you exit the tunnel you'll be on the Fort Pitt Bridge. Pittsburgh will be clearly in view.
- Stay in the right lane on the bridge and exit to the right following the signs to Monroeville on Route 376.
- Continue on Route 376 until you get to Monroeville. To avoid the traffic, don't take Monroeville/Wilkins exit #10B, but stay on the bypass and continue to Monroeville exit #14A.
- Take exit #14A to Route 48 South. You'll immediately come to a traffic light at the end of the exit ramp. You're at the intersection of Routes 22 and 48. There are many hotels in the area. The Radisson and Holiday Inn have special rates for Alcoa visitors.
- Radisson Hotel (412) 373-7300 — Turn right on Route 22 from 48 and travel about two miles. Take the exit to Monroeville Mall Blvd. which is on your left. The Radisson is in the Mall complex. (You also could take exit #10B for Monroeville/Wilkins Business Route 22 and look for the Radisson on your right about 200 yards after the sixth traffic light. )
- Ramada Inn (412) 244-1600 — While on Route 376, watch for exit 11 (Penn Hills). Take the exit ramp. The Ramada Inn is the first right as you come off the exit ramp.
- Holiday Inn (412) 372-1022 — Cross Route 22 and turn left at the first light.
- Palace Inn (412) 372-5500 — Cross Route 22. The hotel is on the right.
- Red Roof Inn (412) 856-4738 — Cross Route 22. Travel through the first light. The hotel is on the right.
- Hampton Inn (412) 380-4000 — Located on the corner of Rts. 22 and 48 across from the Palace Inn.
Actual driving time from ATC to the airport is approximately one hour, but always allow two hours to accommodate rush hour traffic, delays, construction, etc. Click here for a map from the Pittsburgh International Airport to Monroeville.
Directions from Pittsburgh to ATC Via Route 28
- From Pittsburgh, follow Route 28 North to Exit # 14 (Tarentum/New Kensington exit).
- Take Exit # 14. Bear right off the exit ramp, following the signs for Routes 366 East and 56 West.
- At the first traffic light, proceed straight.
- At the second traffic light (Gatto's Cycle Shop is located on your left), proceed straight down the hill and across the Tarentum Bridge.
- Proceed straight through three more traffic lights. After the third traffic light, you will travel down a small hill and approach a "Y" in the road. At the "Y," bear right onto Route 56 West.
- At the next traffic light (Valley High School is located on your right), turn left onto Route 780 East.
- Go to the top of the hill to the stop sign at Powers Drive (Martin School is located directly in front of you). At the stop sign, bear left and continue on Route 780 for approximately six miles.
- As you near the Alcoa Technical Center, there will be a BP gas station on your right. You will begin down a small grade, and the entrance to the Alcoa Technical Center will be on your left.
- Please stop at the Guard Station to pick up your visitor pass and receive instructions to the appropriate building.
Directions from Monroeville to Alcoa Technical Center
- Take Route 22 East past Route 48.
- After the third traffic light past the Route 22 and 48 intersection, look for the "Golden Mile Highway" sign and take that exit ramp to Route 286. The exit ramp bears to the right and crosses over Route 22.
- Continue on Route 286 for about three miles and through several traffic lights. Route 286 will bear to the right but you will continue going straight as the road becomes Route 380. At this point the road becomes two lanes in both directions.
- Follow Route 380 and turn left on Route 780 when you see the signs. There are signs for both Route 780 and the Alcoa Technical Center.
- Follow Route 780 and look for the Alcoa Technical Center main gate entrance on the right. It is the only large complex you will pass.
- Drive up the main entrance and stop at the gate.

Directions from Allegheny County Airport to ATC

Go right from Alcoa Hangar entrance to the Airport driveway, then right on Lebanon Church Road. Go right on PA Route 885 North. Then turn left on Route 885 (Mifflin Road). Take exit for PA Route 837 South (center lane). Go left on Blue Belt (Chiado’s Tavern), and take the Homestead Bridge across the Monongahela River.
- Take Interstate 376 toward Monroeville and East (left lane). Follow to the Interstate 376 entry ramp to stop sign. You will be 0.4 mile from the Squirrell Hill Tunnel on Route 376. From the stop sign, be prepared to move quickly from the right lane and go through the Squirrell Hill Tunnel. Go 10 miles on Interstate 376 to exit 15, U.S. Route 22 East.
- Go east on U.S. Route 22 to PA Route 286 (approximately 2.1 miles). Follow Route 286 to PA Route 380. Continue east on Route 380 for approximately five miles. Turn left onto PA Route 780. Travel north on Route 780 to Alcoa Technical Center entrance sign. Turn right at entrance and proceed to security gate.
