Greenwood Bros & Gaskell, U.K. - Winner of the "oldest Alcoa wheel" competition
September 1, 2008
In reply to the competition of the "oldest Alcoa wheel", launched in the Alcoa Wheel Products Europe April newsletter, fleets from all over Europe sent in pictures of old Alcoa wheels still in use, some very old! The eldest one dated from August 1982. Until this day, Andrew Gaskell of Greenwood Bros & Gaskell is using a 22.5 x 8.25 Alcoa wheel, manufactured in the USA in August 1982, on his vehicle.
Can you imagine? 26 years of service and who knows how many miles! This proves what a good investment Alcoa wheels are.
Alcoa wheels come with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, but in reality they can last 5 times as long.
Mr. Gaskell received a free set of Dura-Bright® wheels for his vehicle, which he appreciated as these wheels offer the advantage of easy cleaning, saving many hours in maintenance! This is quite a nice anniversary gift, as Greenwood Bros & Gaskell are celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2008. Their family business was founded in 1948, in the same year that Alcoa made the first forged aluminium truck wheel!
