Alcoa launch new LIGHTWEIGHT 22.5 x 11.75, 120 mm offset wheel

 Exactly one year ago, Alcoa presented their new series of “lightweight” wheels in 22.5 x 8.25, 22.5 x 9.00, 19.5 x 7.50 and 19.5 x 8.25. In the past twelve months, the world’s leading aluminum wheel manufacturer continued its efforts to make the forged Alcoa wheels better and lighter. Today they introduce the lightweight FrontRunner® 22.5 x 11.75, 120 mm offset wheel.
 
Alcoa succeeded in lowering the weight of this FrontRunner® wheel from 25 kg to 23.6 kg, another reduction of 1.4 kg! This wheel can be mounted on the front axle of trucks and on trailer axles.
The new wheel, which will be interchangeable with the current one, will on top also feature:
  • repositioned hand-hole design
  • rim flanges with a proprietary Unified Rim Horn Design, allowing to accommodate both stick- and clip-on balancing weights.

The new FrontRunner®, which will be available from February 2009 onwards, has passed US SAE J267 truck wheels tests, as well as European LBF Eurocycle and TÜV tests.
 
Due to the above changes, part numbers will be changed as follows:
  • with 26 mm bolt hole diameter
    Brushed  817560  becomes  817520
    Mirror Polished 817561 becomes 817521
    Dura-Bright® 817561DB becomes 817521DB
    Dura-Flange®  NEW! 817520DF
  • with 32 mm bolt hole diameter
    Brushed  817550  becomes  817510
    Mirror Polished 817551 becomes 817511
    Dura-Bright® 817551DB becomes 817511DB

The WorkHorse® wheel (without ventilation holes) versions of the FrontRunner® (ref. 817580 and 817570) have not been changed.
