Popular summer jobs in the Alcoa Fjardaál smelter
More than 550 applications were received for advertised summer jobs in the Alcoa Fjardaál smelter in Reydarfjordur, East Iceland. The company will hire 60 people for temporary jobs in production and some tradesman positions. The deadline for applications was April 14th and hiring will take place during the next few weeks.
While applications came from all over the country, most of them were from the capital area. A part of the people hired for the temporary positions will start working on May 1st, but most of them will assume their position on June 1st and all will work through the month of August.
Around 450 people work for Alcoa Fjardaál and another 250-300 work for contractors in related jobs on and around the smelter site.
