Janne Sigurdsson appointed Managing Director of Alcoa Fjardaál
Janne Sigurdsson, Production Manager, Alcoa Fjardaál, has been appointed Managing Director of the company effective 1st January 2012. Janne will replace Tómas Már Sigurdsson, who was recently appointed President, European Region and GPP Europe, located in Geneva, Switzerland. Furthermore, Magnús Thór Ásmundsson, General Process and Rod Shop Owner, Alcoa Fjardaál, replaces Tómas Már as Country Manager for Alcoa in Iceland.

Alcoa Names Sigurdsson President, European Region and Global Primary Products Europe
Alcoa announced today that Tómas Már Sigurdsson, Managing Director Alcoa Fjardaál, is appointed President, European Region and Alcoa Global Primary Products (GPP) Europe effective January 1, 2012. Sigurdsson succeeds Marcos Ramos who has assumed new responsibilities as President of GPP in Latin America and the Caribbean. Sigurdsson’s successor will be announced at a later date.

Lights turned on the tallest Christmas tree in Iceland this year
This week, the lights were lit on the tallest Christmas tree in Iceland this year at a formal ceremony by the Alcoa Fjardaál smelter in Reydarfjördur. Children from two local playschools attended the ceremony on December 7th, and sang Christmas carols for the guests.

Alcoa Fjardaál receives AOSH Company of the Year Award
Alcoa Fjardaál has received the Icelandic Administration of Occupational Safety and Health's (AOSH) recognition as the Company of the Year for its Central Workshop. The AOSH presents the award once a year to a company that has shown excellence in a particular field in the spotlight that year.
