The Alcoa/Landsvirkjun Sustainability Initiative
Welcome to the homepage of the Landsvirkjun and Alcoa Sustainability Initiative. The purpose of this page is to inform the public about the initiative, which was launched as a combined effort of the two companies to measure the effects of three projects in East-Iceland: The Kárahnjúkar Power Plant Project, the Alcoa Fjarðaál Smelter Project and the line from the Power Station to the Smelter. Landsvirkjun and Alcoa worked with a group of stakeholders to define indicators for measuring the impact of the the three projects. The Advisory Group finished its work in early 2005, and in April the same year, the Phase I/II Report was published. In February 2006 the Phase III Report was published ("Plan for Implementation"). Both are available for downloading here (see links on the right). Further reports and monitoring results will be published on this page and on Landsvirkjun's homepage.
