Public Commitment—Approach
In addition to our extensive community engagement, we make tax payments to governments in all the countries in which we operate. In 2006, cash paid for income taxes totaled US$695 million. This excludes the numerous other taxes, such as royalties, sales taxes, excise duties, levies, and local taxes, that we paid in those countries.
