    Negotiations to resume July 17

    Alcoa will resume contract negotiations with the United Steelworkers union on Wednesday, July 17, in Pittsburgh. Approximately 1,700 active employees from five locations --- Massena, New York; Warrick Indiana; Wenatchee, Washington; Point Comfort, Texas and Gum Springs, Arkansas -- are covered by the agreement.

    Representatives from Alcoa and the United Steelworkers are making progress in reaching a new U.S. master agreement but need time to study proposals and the parties have agreed to extend the deadline. A new deadline has not yet been set. Operations at our facilities are unaffected.

    After the first full week of negotiations, Alcoa and the United Steelworkers are making progress in reaching a new, multi-year labor agreement. The parties have formally exchanged proposals and are reviewing them while the talks continue. Also, the company and union representatives have negotiated on local issues.
