Alcoa donates $100,000 to fire victims
Alcoa of Australia Chairman and Managing Director Michael Parker today announced the company will donate $100,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund to assist victims of the bushfire burning in the South West.
Since the fire began last week, Alcoa has committed to do everything it can to assist employees and the local community recover from this tragic event.
“We have been part of the Harvey Waroona community for more than 30 years and are deeply saddened by the destruction the region has experienced over this last week, especially the devastation in Yarloop. Our sympathies are with all those who have suffered losses in the fire,” Michael said.
“As we assess the damage and continue to restore normal operations at our Wagerup Refinery and Willowdale Mine, we remain focused on helping the community and will continue to provide as much support as we can.”
“I pledge these funds in recognition of the incredible efforts of our workforce. Their resilience, professionalism and generosity during this incredibly difficult time is inspirational.”
