Maintaining healthy people, operations and communities

Alcoa-logo-horizontal-blue-white
During these uncertain times due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to let you know Alcoa is committed to safeguarding our people and doing what we can to minimise the impact on communities close to where we operate.

As a large employer in regional Australia, we are working hard to ensure our bauxite mines, alumina refineries and aluminium smelter remain in operation. Our sites have comprehensive measures in place for health and business continuity including social distancing protocols, work-from-home options, and other protective actions aligned with best practice guidance.

We thank our workforce for their dedication and professionalism during these trying times and want them to know that their health and safety is our highest priority.

We lament the impact this crisis is having on the community and the vital non-profit and volunteer sectors. We are saddened that community events and activities have had to be cancelled or postponed, including many supported by Alcoa, and pledge to work with our community partners to do what we can to help them through these unprecedented times.

We also lament the impact this crisis is having on local businesses and the many people now out of work. We will continue our commitment to local procurement and local employment and investigate other ways in which we might be able to assist.

We all have a part to play to ensure the best possible outcomes and as a business and community member, we will continue to do what we can.
