Tackling hunger in the Peel

Alcoa has once again joined forces with Peel Thunder Football Club and Foodbank WA to tackle food insecurity in the Peel region.
As part of the 2025 Peel Thunder Charity Game Day, the community rallied to raise vital funds and food donations for Foodbank’s Peel region services. Alcoa matched every dollar donated by fans, doubling the impact and helping provide essential groceries to individuals and families doing it tough.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, this year’s game day will see more than 55,100 meals provided to those in need.
Alcoa Pinjarra Operations Manager Jodie Giraudo said the company was proud to continue its support.
“We’re passionate about partnering with our local communities to help improve the lives of the people who live here,” Jodie said.
The 2024 Foodbank Hunger Report found that more than half of food-insecure households in Australia were skipping meals or going whole days without eating. In the Peel region alone, Foodbank has recorded a 10 per cent increase in demand over the past financial year, highlighting the urgent need for continued community support.
Alcoa has been partnering with Foodbank Peel since 2020, and we remain committed to supporting the local communities where we operate.
