Falls Boat Access Area will be closed October 10-12

BADIN (October 2, 2009) – Alcoa-Yadkin announced today that the Falls Boat Access Area will be closed from October 10-12, 2009, as a result of necessary work near the Narrows (Badin Lake) Dam.  The access area will re-open on Tuesday, October 13.

The work involves clean-up of a small area behind the powerhouse where capacitors were discovered and removed in 2002.  Alcoa-Yadkin will also make improvements to the Falls Boat Access Area while it is temporary closed.  This work will include removing sediment on the boat ramp and repairing the concrete to provide easier launching and loading access for the boaters.

Water levels at Falls Reservoir may drop up to 15 feet below full from October 10-12 and may remain 3-4 feet below full for up to one month as work near the Narrows Dam is completed.
