Alcoa distributes Agreement in Principle

After more than a year of settlement negotiations, Alcoa-Yadkin has distributed an “Agreement in Principle” that offers significant recreation enhancements and important environmental protections, including the protection of more than 6,000 acres of Alcoa–owned property. The agreement will serve as the foundation for developing a formal “Relicensing Settlement Agreement” that will be submitted to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Alcoa–Yadkin worked closely with negotiation participants — representing more than two dozen state and federal agencies, local governments, recreational users, environmental groups and others — in an effort to develop the agreement.

Alcoa-Yadkin Files License Application with FERC; Settlement Negotiations Continue

BADIN (April 26, 2006) — The Yadkin Division of Alcoa Power Generating Inc. (Alcoa-Yadkin) has filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a new 50-year license that will regulate the company’s hydropower operations along the Yadkin River.  Meanwhile, the company is continuing efforts to reach a settlement agreement with stakeholders interested in the future management of the hydropower project. Once an agreement is reached, it will be filed with FERC as an offer of settlement for FERC to consider.
