Issue Advisory Groups

Issue Advisory Groups (IAGs) will advise Yadkin on resource issues throughout the relicensing process. Yadkin invited federal, state, and local resource agencies, local governments, tribes, and national and regional non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to participate on the IAGs.

Other organizations are also welcome to participate on the IAGs if they meet the following criteria: the organization represents a unique interest not otherwise represented by other already-established participating organizations; the organization represents the interest of a group of stakeholders rather than an individual; the organization's interest is directly related to the Yadkin Project relicensing; the organization can demonstrate a defined organizational structure; and the organization has a designated representative to act on its behalf. If your organization is interested in participating on one or more of the IAGs, please complete and return the IAG Application.

Those interested in the relicensing, but not participating on the IAGs, will be kept informed and given the opportunity to provide input on the relicensing through regularly scheduled public meetings.

During Stage One of the relicensing, IAGs will set a meeting schedule, identify issues and study needs, assist with study scopes, comment on study plans, participate in studies, and comment on study reports. During Stage Two, the IAGs will meet to discuss the progress of the ongoing technical studies and to review study results.

Those interested in participating on the IAGs met on February 28, 2003 for an IAG Organizational Meeting (February 28, 2003 Final Meeting Summary). The following Issue Advisory Groups were formed at this meeting: County Economic ImpactsCultural ResourcesFish and Aquatics (RTE aquatic)Operations ModelRecreation, Aesthetics, and Shoreline ManagementWater Quality; and Wetlands, Wildlife, and Botanical (RTE terrestrial). The meeting participants agreed to a meeting schedule and also developed IAG Meeting Guidelines.

Final meeting summaries, study plans, and study reports are available on the respective IAG pages.
