Alcoa Recycling and UT Knoxville kick off RecycleMania

Knoxville, Tenn. –  Alcoa Recycling and the University of Tennessee's Facility Services kicked off RecycleMania on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

RecycleMania is a national competition supported by the National Recycling Coalition to increase recycling and reduce waste between universities and colleges all across the country.  The 10-week competition ends March 28.

As part of the Jan. 20 event, Alcoa Recycling handed out recycling bins to students who signed pledge cards confirming their commitment to recycle at home and work.  Also in conjunction with RecycleMania, Alcoa Recycling donated 1,000 recycling bins to be used by each resident at Sutherland Village, a university apartment complex comprised of hundreds of students.

Local recycling guides and information about recycling initiatives at Alcoa Inc. were also distributed.
