Quality standards earn high marks in recent audit

Alcoa, TN – Alcoa Inc. Tennessee Operations recently earned ISO 9001:2000 Recertification. This quality management certification is the internationally recognized standard for the quality management of businesses. It applies to the processes that create and control the products and services an organization supplies. It prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met. It is designed and intended to apply to virtually any product or service, made by any process anywhere in the world. “Employees can be proud of this significant achievement,” said Dale Baker, Metallurgy and Quality Systems Manager. “It reinforces that we are doing the right things around our quality management systems and the end result is delivering a good quality product to our customer. In an economy where many factors are out of our control, the quality of our product is totally in our control.” The ISO 9001 recertification audit is held every three years.
