Alcoa Inc. official elected to Southeast Recycling Development Council board of directors

Knoxville, Tenn. -- Greg Wittbecker, Director of Corporate Metal Recycling Strategy for Alcoa Inc., was recently elected to the Southeast Recycling Development Council’s 2009-2010 board of directors. The Southeast Recycling Development Council (SERDC) was established and created by professionals in the recycling industry representing 11 southeastern states (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN and VA). The mission of SERDC is to unite industry professionals, organizations, government agencies and individuals engaged in the business of recycling; to foster communications amongst those groups; to promote sustainable recycling programs; and, to coordinate education and public awareness activities related to recycling. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to serve on this board alongside recycling advocates from throughout the Southeast,” Wittbecker said. In his current role, Wittbecker is responsible for the planning and execution of Alcoa’s aluminum scrap recycling activities, with a special focus on used beverage container recycling. Wittbecker joined Alcoa in 2003 as the Director of Logistics and Transportation for North American Primary Metals where he managed the supply chain for Alcoa’s 11 North American smelters and Iceland location. Before joining Alcoa, Wittbecker worked for Koch Supply and Trading, Wise Metals Group and Cargill Inc.
