Alcoa Inc. Location Manager elected Tennessee Chamber Chairman

Alcoa, Tenn. --  Alcoa Inc.’s Brett McBrayer was recently elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  He succeeds John Van Mol, founding partner, President and CEO of Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence of Nashville.  McBrayer’s chairmanship was effective January 1, 2009.  He will officially receive the gavel Feb. 24 at the Tennessee Chamber’s 97th Annual Meeting and Reception.
 
The Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the state chamber of commerce and the state manufacturer’s association.  Designed to promote and protect the state’s business climate, the Tennessee Chamber is involved in federal and state legislation and regulations, human resources, taxation, the environment, health care and other issues that affect the state’s business community.
 
“I’m honored and excited to be a part of a team focused on addressing opportunities and concerns impacting business growth and competitiveness in Tennessee, ” said McBrayer.
 
McBrayer is the Location Manager of Primary Metals, Alcoa Tennessee Operations.  A Maryville native, McBrayer began his career with Alcoa Inc. in 1989 as an industrial engineer at Tennessee Operations Rigid Packaging Division.  After assignments in finishing, can reclamation and hot rolling, McBrayer was promoted to ingot area coordinator in 1993.  In 1996, he accepted an international assignment as organizational development consultant for Alcoa Manufacturing in Great Britain where he was charged with organizational design and employee engagement initiatives.  He returned to Tennessee in 1998 and in 2003 was named Plant Manager of Alcoa Cleveland Works where he led a 1,300 employee forging facility servicing the aerospace, industrial products, automotive and commercial transportation markets.  McBrayer accepted his current role in 2007.
 
McBrayer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee, where he was a Letterman on the University of Tennessee football team, and a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University in Seattle. 
 
Brett and his wife Laura Moore McBrayer live in Knoxville with their three children.
