Alcoa in Spain
Overview
We believe that our success is linked to the health and well-being of the hundreds of communities around the world that host Alcoa plants and offices. These communities have always been the focus of Alcoa giving, both through Alcoa Inc., and through the non-profit Alcoa Foundation.

Because these places and the people who live there are so important to us, we strive to enrich them through grants, ideas, and our own donated time and effort.

In addition to grant-based activities, two global programs have
been developed to recognize the volunteer efforts of Alcoa employees through special Alcoa grants. ACTION (Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods) encourages Alcoans to work as a team to help a local nonprofit, while Bravo! recognizes individual employee volunteer efforts. Alcoa employees everywhere are participating in these programs to benefit the nonprofit organizations in their communities.

The "Alcoa Challenge"

Alcoa Foundation projects in Spain include the "Alcoa Challenge" educational project organized by Junior Achievement Spain and sponsored by the Alcoa Foundation. Its purpose is to stimulate entrepreneurial spirit, personal responsibility and initiative, and understanding of the factors involved in business management in a setting of economic competition and ethical values. Young people, age 16 to 19 from schools in all the communities where Alcoa has workplaces will have the opportunity to learn, and to develop and apply their capabilities as managers in a simulated business environment that has been set up using real world economic variables.

The "Cinema in Values" program is also implemented at schools in all Alcoa communities in Spain. The Foundation for Help Against Drug Addition runs this program which uses selected movies as a tool to consolidate values in children, thanks to their capacity to generate an emotional impact and transmit values and behaviors. The project is implemented in schools where the teachers guide the young spectators.
