Alcoa Russia Employees celebrated their professional holiday

Samara, Belaya Kalitva –ZAO Alcoa SMZ (Samara) and ZAO Metallurg Rus (Belaya Kalitva) celebrated Metallurgist’s Day. Alcoa Russia employees were honored for their achievements.

Samara celebration 
  • The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation recognized Andrey Donets, President, Alcoa Global Packaging, and Zinaida Solomatina, operator of non-ferrous metal processing line, as "Honored Metallurgists".
  • Maxim Smirnov, President of Alcoa Russia, and Oleg Zhadaev, Samara Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, officiated at celebrations at Alcoa's Samara plant, congratulating employees on the holiday and their professional achievements. Zhadaev then awarded the Certificates of Commendation on behalf of the governor of Samara Region to Vladimir Danilov (senior foreman, Extrusions), Anatoliy Petrov (shift foreman of heat treatment and sheet packaging area, Flat-Rolled Products), Vasiliy Trofimov (shift foreman of ingot and billet casting area, Casthouse), Alexey Kozlov (senior maintenance foreman, Flat-Rolled Products) and Tatiana Shevchenko (crane operator, Logistics).
  • The governor also sent souvenirs for longtime service to Maxim Ovodenko, Gennadiy Cherepok, Alexander Datskovskiy, Yuriy Pavlenko, Nikolay Aksenov, Svetlana Klepachevskaya, Vladislav Arseniev, Lyudmila Moshashvili, Valeriy Rudnev and Anatoliy Semin.
  • Five employees were honored with Certificates of Commendation and Appreciation Letters on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for their contribution to the development of metals industry: Iliya Ausev (leveling  machine operator, Extrusions), Mikhail Zelter (head of department in Projects and Equipment diagnostics department), Yuriy Uhabotov (smelter of the 5th skill-category, Casthouse), Vladimir Schuchkin (senior maintenance foreman of shop #25, Flat-Rolled Products) and Galina Krymasova (sales director, aerospace and defense).
  • The Samara city and regional legislatures as well as the Minister of Industry and Technology of Samara also issued appreciation letters to the employees of the plant.
Belaya Kalitva celebration 
  • Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation awarded Certificates of Commendation and Appreciation letters for longtime service to Belaya Kalitva employees Oleg Dobrukhin (non-ferrous metals caster, Casthouse), Alexander Kasianov (forger, Extrusions), Oleg Vereschagin (mechanic, Extrusions, maintenance shop) and Nikolai Hrupin (cold mill operator, Flat Rolled Products).
  • Employees received Certificates of Commendation from the Legislative Assembly of Rostov region, heads of district and city government.
  • Several employees received a medal that commemorated the 310th anniversary of the city for their personal civic contributions.

Over 100 employees of Alcoa Russia were honored for their professional achievements.

In 2005, the Company acquired two of Russia’s largest fabricating facilities: Samara Metallurgical Plant (now ZAO Alcoa SMZ) and Belaya Kalitva Metallurgical Production Association (now ZAO AMR).

ZAO Alcoa SMZ (previously – JSC Samara Metallurgical Plant) is one of Russia’s largest producers of fabricated aluminum (commissioned in July 1960). It manufactures a wide range of flat rolled products, extrusions, and forgings of all aluminum alloys in compliance with international and Russian standards. The plant serves customers in many markets, including aerospace, shipbuilding, oil and gas, packaging, and transportation.
The plant's production and quality control systems have been ISO 9001:2008 certified and its Ecological Management system has been ISO 14001:2004 certified.

ZAO Alcoa Metallurg Rus is the leading producer of fabricated aluminum in the South of Russia. The plant produces a wide range of flat rolled products, extrusions, tubes and forgings in compliance with international and Russian standards. The facility traditionally supplies aerospace, automotive, building and construction and other industries. Alcoa Metallurg Rus also produces aluminum pots and pans under Kalitva trademark (www.kalitva-posuda.ru).
The plant’s quality management system is certified to comply with the following standards: BS EN 9100:2003, ISO 9001:2000, EN 9104:P1 for aluminum and fabricated aluminum production - ingots, plate, sheet, coils, profiles, tubes, forgings and extrusions.
