November 17, 2011 – During the international industrial exhibition Metal Expo, winners of the competition Best Internet Projects in Metallurgy – 2011 were announced. Alcoa Russia corporate website www.alcoa.ru took third place in Design category. The competition was organized by an authoritative media outlet “Metallosnabjenie I Sbyt” (Metal Supplies and Sales).
www.alcoa.ru was launched in 2006 as part of Alcoa’s global corporate website www.alcoa.com. The Russian website aimed to support the image of a reliable, successful and socially responsible international company in the Russian regions where Alcoa operates; to inform customers, journalists, community members about products, production capacity, social projects. In 2010 www.alcoa.ru went through significant upgrade: graphical changes were made to all pages (banner-links to main sections, interactive rotating banners with links to major news releases on the home page), all the information was refined and updated, a new section Our Partners was added with video and photo archive.
While www.alcoa.ru is a small part of the company’s global Internet portal, there are limitations and rules both in technical and content management. The technical support for www.alcoa.ru is provided by a web-service based in the USA. But since 2008 its content is managed by Alcoa Russia Corporate Affairs.
