Visiting Session of the Povolzhskiy Quality Club at Samara Metallurgical Plant

Today the visiting session of the Povolzhskiy Quality Club was held at JSC Samara Metallurgical Plant”; quality specialists from various businesses in the Povolzhskiy region took part in this visiting session.
 
The site of the session is not accidental - ОАО “Samara Metallurgic Plant” was among the first in Samara district to certify the quality management system by ISO 9001 and its components - TS 1649 for the automotive production and AS 9100 for the aerospace industry. The production of shipbuilding products (materials) is approved by the American Bureau of Shipping, Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping and DNV and BSI international companies. The production processes used for manufacturing aviation and aerospace products were certified by NADCAP.   
 
Michail Spichak, Location Manager of Samara Metallurgical Plant, said in his greetings to the participants of the session: “The output quality is an essential part of the Alcoa corporate values, and our employees take maximum efforts to make our products compliant with the international standards. I am sure that all the participants will get a lot of useful and interesting experience from the Samara Metallurgical Plant and other enterprises through today’s discussion of the vital quality management issues.
 
The participants of the visiting session of the Povolzhskiy Quality Club included representatives of the aerospace, automotive and  transportation industries, standardization and certification bodies, education section. They toured the production facilities and  became the elements of the Alcoa Business System that target continuous improvement.
 
The quality specialists from the businesses in the Povolzhskiy region were satisfied with the session and many of them expressed a desire to visit Samara Metallurgical Plant again to exchange more experience of interest.
 
Alexandr Vasilchuk, Povolzhskiy Quality Club President, said: “It is pleasant to emphasize the growing number of people interested in the development of the industrial business and in improving the Russian product quality today.  The competency level of quality specialists is getting higher. The hosting plants gain a lot from holding sessions like this – their specialists find new contacts, new mutual interests and projects”.
 
 
Samara Metallurgical Plant (commissioned in July 1960) is Russia’s largest producer of fabricated aluminum. It manufactures a wide range of flat rolled products, extrusions, and forgings of all aluminum alloys in compliance with international and Russian standards. The plant serves customers in many markets, including aerospace, shipbuilding, oil and gas, packaging, and transportation.
 
The plant's production and quality control systems have been ISO 9001/9002 certified and its Ecological Management system has been ISO 14001:1996 certified.
