Alexander Drits was born in 1947 in Moscow.
In 1969, having graduated from Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS), he started working in the State Institute of Light Alloys where he held various positions from Engineer to Head of Thermal Treatment of Aluminum Alloys division.
In 1975 he got his PhD with a thesis on thermal and mechanical treatment of Aluminum-Magnesium-Zink alloys.
In 1986 Mr. Drits was awarded a Prize of USSR MINISTRY for creation of alloys 1161, 1973, 1933 and development of large-scale fabricated products from these alloys for construction of transport aircrafts.
In 1984-1993 Alexander worked in the State Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM) as Head of Laboratory for Welded Aluminum Alloys. At VIAM Alexander and his colleagues made a research on Alloy 1201 to create special equipment including Energiya-Buran - an aviation and aerospace system. They developed and implemented aluminum-lithium alloys 1450, 1451, 1460, 1461, 1470.
Alexander Drits is the author of more than 120 printed publications, books and over 70 patents, many of them are used in production.
Since 1993 Alexander Drits held the position of Director, Alcoa Representative Office in Russia and CIS countries. In 2005, after Alcoa’s acquisition of two fabricated aluminum facilities (Samara Metallurgical Plant and Belaya Kalitva Metallurgical Production Association) he became Deputy General Director of Alcoa Rus and Technology Director, Alcoa Russia. Since 2008 Mr.Drits also took the position of Head of Moscow office of Alcoa SMZ.
In May 2011 he assumed responsibility as Business Development Director. In 2015 Alexander Drits was given a title of Honored Metallurgist by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
