1. Why did Alcoa step up its efforts to communicate with retirees?
Our retirees are still an important part of the company, even if they don't actively work for Alcoa anymore. Also, many of you continue to be interested in company news and have asked us to provide it.

2. Some of my retiree friends don't have email or internet access. Will you send a printed version of the retiree newsletter to them?
Currently, all of our retiree communications are only available electronically, to coincide with Alcoa's efforts to reduce our impact on the environment while also reducing our costs. But feel free to share the information with them!

5. Is the Alcoa pension fund financially secure?
Yes, it is. Like most other company pension funds, the Alcoa fund lost asset value during the recent economic downturn. However, because Alcoa's investment strategy is more conservative, those losses were significantly less than what other companies experienced. Also, Alcoa made $1 billion in voluntary contributions to the fund over the last four years, which helped shore it up even further.
