Alcoa offers aluminum powders with varying aluminum purity and with different concentrations of alloying elements.  Iron and silicon are the major contaminants for both regular and high-purity powders.

Alcoa offers aluminum powders with varying aluminum purity and with different concentrations of alloying elements.  Iron and silicon are the major contaminants for both regular and high-purity powders.

High-Purity Aluminum Powders
Standard grade aluminum powders have a typical composition of 99.7 wt% aluminum.  Alcoa High Purity Aluminum Powders contain a nominal aluminum content of 99.98% and a minimum content of 99.97%.
 
Specialty grades of aluminum powder with an iron content as low as 0.008% iron is available for applications where iron content is of concern.

Pre-Alloyed Aluminum Powders
Pre-alloyed aluminum powders are also manufactured by the atomization process.  Presently, the only standard alloy products available are based on silicon and titanium alloys.  Silicon is typically employed where heat resistance and wear are factors.  When aluminum powder is used in chemical reactions, titanium alloys are often preferred as a method to increase reactivity. 
 
Metallization and powder metallurgy applications can require custom alloy powders to meet the final product needs.  Custom alloy products (copper, boron, etc.) can be developed to meet our specific customer needs.
