Rolling Ingots, Billets, Foundry Alloys
Alcoa Norway is a producer of shaped and alloyed aluminium
products. The casthouses are equipped to meet the highest requirements of the European
extrusion, rolling and foundry markets. The Mosjøen plant produces special rolling
ingots and low iron foundry ingots, whereas the Lista plant produces extrusion billets
and supplies liquid foundry alloys to the company Casting Technologies Farsund AS,
situated next door to the casthouse.
Elkem Aluminium has a larger casthouse capacity than is necessary to transform its
own potroom metal. Some extra aluminium for alloying and upgrading into foundry
ingots, rolling slabs and extrusion billets is purchased to meet the market demands.
Elkem Aluminium's strategy is to be among the lowest cost manufacturers of primary
aluminium products with high added value. The company focuses on the European market,
and its total production is sold directly to European fabricating plants in accordance
with the customers' individual requirements and specifications.
Common to all Elkem Aluminium’s products are consistent metal quality, high metal
purity, low iron content and low level of trace elements.
