Alcoa in The Netherlands
Overview
As in other parts of the world, Alcoa's Dutch locations share the company's environmental values. In 2002, for example, Alcoa focused its largest European environmental investment on building a new water treatment plant at the Harderwijk location. We combine projects like this with a successful ISO14001 certification program and an extensive internal environmental awareness campaign to reinforce Alcoa's environmental commitment at all levels of busines in The Netherlands. This commitment which is gaining recognition in the press and among community members.

In addition, every Alcoa location in The Netherlands practices critical environmental self-assessment to assure compliance with local water, waste and noise requirements. As Alcoans, we want our impact on the environment to be minimal. And, with the help of some great programs like Alcoa Foundation and the One Million Trees project we support local environmental organizations and show them how much we care.

About the photo

The Aluminium Centre, a new landmark just outside Utrecht, is a knowledge and information center for the combined aluminium industry in the Netherlands. Its unique design, inspired by the graceful shapes of local poplar groves, is made possible by the strength and lightness of aluminium. It uses Alcoa systems for windows, doors and curtain wall - and is completely recyclable.
