Fusina, 19th November 2007 - The 'Marine Day' congress, an opportunity to meet all the operators of the Italian naval sector, was jointly held by Alcoa Europe, Alluminio Toscana (Cauvin Group) and Metra Industria. The two day 'Marine Day' event took place at Metra in Brescia and at the Alcoa plant in Fusina. Fusina is a worldwide reference point for high quality aluminum products supplied to the marine market and well known for its consolidated presence all over the world.
The event was a good opportunity for Alcoa to open the Fusina plant for business partners and improve the awareness of Alcoa's strong commitment to the Italian marine industry. Aluminio Toscana for example is a distributor of aluminum flat rolled products in Italy. They have been important partners for Alcoa in serving shipyards for many years. In addition to representatives of the organizing companies, delegates of the most important shipyards participated in the event.

The guest speakers Donatella Mascia from the Genoa University and Luis Mario Volpone from the Italian Welding Institute in Genoa presented on innovative advantages like high productivity joining techniques and structural strength of aluminum used in marine applications.
