Under the new leadership of Managing Director Mike McKinstry, Alcoa Australia Rolled Products is expanding its business and growing sales into the competitive Asian markets. “Alcoa ARP is committed to continuing as the leading supplier of Aluminium can sheet products into the Australian and Asian markets. By upgrading existing equipment we are able to double our capacity for pre-treating aluminium can end sheet, at a very low cost.” he said. The expansion is scheduled for completion in mid 2005 and Alcoa ARP will begin supplying customers with can end sheet for use in aluminium beverage cans, from this expansion, immediately. This growth in capacity will not affect existing production or supply to customers. According to Mike McKinstry, this project is part of an ongoing growth strategy for Alcoa ARP. “This is an exciting period of growth for Alcoa ARP and our customers,” he said. Alcoa is the world's leading producer and manager of primary aluminium, fabricated aluminium and alumina facilities, and is active in all major aspects of the industry. Alcoa serves the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation and industrial markets, bringing design, engineering, production and other capabilities of Alcoa's businesses to customers. In addition to aluminium products and components, Alcoa also markets consumer brands including Reynolds Wrapâ foils and plastic wraps, Alcoaâ wheels, and Bacoâ household wraps. Among its other businesses are vinyl siding, closures, fastening systems, precision castings, and electrical distribution systems for cars and trucks. The company has 131,000 employees in 43 countries and has been a member of the Dow Jones Industrial Average for 45 years and the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes since 2001.
