Making an Impact in the GardenSustainable landscaping is a way of designing and maintaining beautiful yards, gardens, and larger landscapes to:

Here at Alcoa, as part of our waste management program, we have our very own worm farm located at the Pinjarra Refinery. At each Alcoa site in Western Australia we have 'worm farm' bins, with the contents then delivered to the Pinjarra worm farm. Each year, on average, our worm farm saves about 140,000 kilograms of kitchen waste from going to landfill. Those wrigglers are not only turning rubbish into garden fertiliser - but also giving us the chance to teach young school children, who tour our operations, about a world of new possibilities in our carbon constrained world.
Meanwhile, Alcoa's pledge to environmental sustainability is demonstrated in the 19,000 hectares of rural landholdings we manage at Pinjarra, Wagerup and Boddington — known as Alcoa Farmlands. Alcoa Farmlands has the largest beef breeding herd in the South-West of Australia, producing approximately 2000 tonnes of beef annually. Read more.
