Inspiring Artful Exercise

Alcoa Howmet Castings in Whitehall, Michigan, USA sponsored a sculpture that is part of a project to place 25 works of art along a bicycle trail system in the community. The 16-foot Alcoa Howmet sculpture, “Eagle Returning to Nest,” created from metal and wood, was recently unveiled by the Arts Council of White Lake, the group organizing the project.

Earlier in the year, local artists were invited to submit sculpture ideas for the Art Walk project. A jury committee reviewed the submissions and sponsors selected a sculpture. Alcoa Howmet selected the eagle sculpture and commissioned it for $5,000 from local funds.
