NEWBURGH, IN: July 14, 2004 - Alcoa Home Exteriors’ Houseworkx mobile showroom will be onsite at Alcoa Warrick Operations this Thursday, July 15 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The 27,000 pound, 18-wheel training lab/showroom will be open to employees, retirees and family members to learn more about Alcoa Home Exteriors products and to see first-hand the products that contain aluminum made at Warrick Operations.
Houseworkx features advanced video, classroom and hands-on training for various home remodeling projects and new construction installation techniques - all in the 53-foot self contained showroom. Employees and local distributors will be on hand to answer questions about products and even provide tips on color and design techniques.
Alcoa Warrick Operations re-entered the building and construction market in 2003 with the installation of roll casters brought here from an Alcoa plant that had been shut down. This $12 Million investment allows primary aluminum to be cast directly into a coil form, bypassing several stages in the production process. It means that Warrick can be competitive in increasingly tight aluminum markets. In addition to many other products, the roll casters supply metal to Alcoa Home Exteriors for use in gutters, downspouts, and soffits.
“Having this mobile showroom on site is a great way for employees and the community to see the connection with Alcoa Home Exteriors and to emphasize the importance of Alcoa’s continued investment in the plant. Continued strong performance here provides the opportunity to diversify our product line and ensure the viability of Warrick Operations for years to come,” said Mike Lucas, Vice President and General Manager of Alcoa Warrick Operations. “The visit allows our employees and community members to see how the hard work of Warrick Alcoans is combined with the technical expertise at Alcoa Home Exteriors to make a final product that graces so many homes across the country,”
