Senator Murray puts her support behind Intalco

|
US Senator Patty Murray voiced her support for Alcoa Intalco Works (Ferndale, WA) in its negotiation for a long-term power contract during a visit to the aluminum smelter last week.
Senator Murray was greeted with a standing ovation by more than 250 employees, family and community members at a town hall meeting during the visit which also included a briefing and discussions with employees in the plant.
The Senator focused her address to the packed meeting on the need to preserve the jobs Intalco provides directly and indirectly in the community, recognizing the many second and third generation employees at the smelter which is in its 42nd year of operation.
Alcoa Intalco Works currently employs around 660 people. A recent economic study showed that for every direct job at the smelter, another 2.9 jobs are generated in the community.
