ATC's ACTION Helps Distribute 10,000 Pounds of Food

The shelves and refrigerators in about 200 homes in Westmoreland County are stocked a little better, thanks to the help of Alcoa Technical Center volunteers. On October 5, a group of Alcoans helped to distribute approximately 10,000 pounds of food at the St. James Food Pantry in Apollo.

The Westmoreland County Food Bank uses pantries located in local communities to distribute food to those in need. This particular pantry serves almost 200 families from Allegheny Township, Washington Township, Bell Township, Leechburg, Oklahoma, Hyde Park and Vandergrift.

As a result of ATC employees assisting at the food pantry, Alcoa Foundation will provide a $1,500 ACTION (Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods) grant to the Westmoreland County Food Bank to purchase more food to be distributed at pantries.
